The Chiasson Smoke Heavy Duty Charcoal Chimney is designed to provide a fast and efficient way to light charcoal for grilling and outdoor cooking. Constructed from heavy gauge steel, it is built to withstand repeated heating and cooling cycles associated with charcoal grilling.
The charcoal chimney features a long carrying handle and a heat resistant spring handle to assist with handling and pouring hot charcoal. As with all products made from raw steel, proper care and maintenance are important to maximize service life.
Care and Maintenance
This charcoal chimney is manufactured from raw carbon steel. Exposure to moisture, humidity, and outdoor conditions may cause surface rust to develop if the product is not properly maintained.
We recommend treating your charcoal chimney similarly to cast iron cookware by applying a protective seasoning layer before use.
Initial Seasoning
Wash the charcoal chimney thoroughly with soap and water to remove any manufacturing residue.
Dry completely. Do not leave moisture on the surface.
Apply a thin, even coat of a high smoke point oil such as grapeseed oil, avocado oil, or Chiasson Smoke Carbon Steel Seasoning and Conditioner.
Place the charcoal chimney in an oven at 450°F for one hour.
Allow the charcoal chimney to cool completely.
Repeat the process two to three times to build a durable protective layer.
Proper seasoning helps reduce the likelihood of rust and creates a protective barrier against moisture.
Ongoing Maintenance
• Store in a dry location when not in use.
• If exposed to rain or moisture, dry thoroughly before storage.
• Apply a light coat of oil periodically to maintain protection.
• If surface rust develops, remove it with a Scotch Brite pad or wire brush, then re-season as needed.

• Place on a stable, noncombustible surface during operation.

• Never leave burning charcoal unattended.
• Use heat resistant gloves when handling hot charcoal or the charcoal chimney.

• Allow the charcoal chimney to cool completely before touching, moving, or storing.
• Dispose of ashes and charcoal in accordance with local fire safety regulations.
